Vidio Presents Pertaruhan: The Series 3 Premiere at JAFF20, More Emotional Yet Action-Packed

On the third day of the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) ke-20, Vidio presented the premiere of Pertaruhan The Series 3. Directors Fajar Martha Santosa and Sinung Winahyoko shared that the new season gives a fresh tone. While action and drama remain central to the series, season 3 introduces stronger elements of romance and family dynamics. Fajar emphasized that the heart of the story is still Elzan and Ical’s fight to protect their family amid relentless challenges.

“We know Pertaruhan has always been about Elzan and Ical’s struggle to keep their family together despite never-ending obstacles. That core remains the same and we enrich it with more drama and action scenes,” Fajar explained. Sinung added that he hopes this season will meet viewers’ expectations. “I think what we envisioned for this series aligns with what the audience wants, and we hope the message of Pertaruhan 3 comes through clearly,” he said.

Season 3 also introduces new cast members, including Maudy Effrosina, Aming, Elang El Gibran, and Ali Fikry. Maudy, who plays Laras, shared that her adaptation process felt smooth thanks to the support from the rest of the cast. Ali Fikry appeared visibly excited about his role, saying the ‘village hero’ character he portrays feels like a perfect fit for him. “Honestly, I’m really happy because my character is this arrogant, show-off ‘local tough guy’, and that’s totally my type,” he joked, drawing laughter from the audience.

Returning cast members also noted significant development in their characters. Giulio Parengkuan, who plays Ical, said his character has grown into a more stable and empathetic figure compared to previous seasons. The same goes for Ara, played by Clara Bernadeth. Previously known for her strategic, brain-over-brawn approach, Ara now appears with far more intensity. “In this new season, Ara really levels up her action skills and choreography. The drama becomes more emotional too, especially with the arrival of a new person in Ara and Elzan’s lives, Laras,” Clara shared.
