Diskusi Tema : Transfiguration

The Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) has chosen ‘Transfiguration’ as this year’s festival theme. ‘Transfiguration’ generally refers to a significant change in form and appearance to a better state, that is beautiful and spiritual. The transformation process may be influenced by external forces, but it is the internal forces at the core that have the greatest influence through perseverance and consistency. In this context, transfiguration in JAFF can be understood as the major transformation experienced by a film festival after two decades of establishment. Through various ups and downs, JAFF has strived to establish its identity and position among other film festivals in Asia and the Pacific. In addition to maintaining its annual celebration of Asian cinema, the major challenge facing JAFF today is to develop a festival that has an impact on the film industry, the community, and the wider regional ecosystem.
