Let’s Talk About It “Women, Film and Safe Spaces” (Women Only)

Women in the film industry often face multiple layers of challenges from workplace discrimination and stereotypical on-screen representation to sexist jokes or behavior on set that are frequently dismissed as “normal.” Film industry workplaces, still largely male-dominated, are often not yet entirely safe spaces for women to express themselves, create, and build their careers. As an inclusive festival, JAFF has also shown its commitment and active contribution to this movement through various discussion programs held in previous years, the growing number of films by women directors screened each year, and the facilitation of safe spaces for both audiences and organizers during the festival.
