The Short Film and Community Ecosystem in Southeast Asia through the Lens of SeaShorts
CF JAFF hosts the SeaShorts Film Festival to discuss the crucial role of film communities as a foundation for short film ecosystem development in Southeast Asia. SeaShorts acts as a space to bridge works, ideas, and practices across borders. Participants will learn how the festival engages communities and their work, including in Indonesia, amplifying local issues regionally and fostering cross-border collaborations.

Programme Director Seashorts Film Festival 2025
Eddy Tan is a Malaysian film educator, organizer, and researcher who lectures at Multimedia University's Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA). He is active in the Southeast Asian film ecosystem through initiatives like the Johor Bahru Film Grants and served as a juror for the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival 2023. Eddy also contributes to the development of the SeaShorts Film Festival, notably as its Programme Director for 2025.

Festival Director Seashorts Film Festival 2025
Dain Said, the Festival Director of SeaShorts Film Festival since 2022, has elevated it into a key platform for Southeast Asian short cinema. He is known internationally for his film Bunohan (2011), which premiered at TIFF, won the Golden Hanoman at JAFF 2012, and became Malaysia's second submission to the Academy Awards. He is also a co-founder of the production company Apparat.
