Ann Hui, 70, strides confidently onto the red carpet, contrasting the muddy path to a New Territories studio. Glory and hardship are mere routes to the cinema for her. Born in Northeastern China, raised in Macau, educated in Hong Kong, she embraces Chinese heritage while being drawn to Western literature, studying in London. Films immersed her in Hong Kong’s East-meets-West culture, reconciling with her mother and exploring identities. Mentored by King Hu, her debut sparked Hong Kong’s New Wave, focusing on marginalized lives. Over 40 years of ups and downs, her humanistic works reflect an unwavering dedication to Hong Kong’s people. Movies filled her once-lonely journey.

Biografi Sutradara
Man Lim Chung
Man graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University – School of Design in 1991 and entered the film industry. In his early career, he assisted acclaimed art directors Tony Au and William Chang on major Hong Kong blockbusters. He won his first Hong Kong Film Award in 1999 for art direction in Tempting Heart, marking his rise as one of Hong Kong’s top art directors. From 2002, he collaborated closely with director Ann Hui, serving as art director on July Rhapsody, The Golden Era, and Our Time Will Come.
