JAFF20 Is More Than Just Films: A Lively Lineup of Off-Screen Activities

JAFF20 isn’t only about cinematic experiences. All around the festival grounds, there’s plenty happening to round out the experience; from interactive booths and live music to sports activities and food stalls that keep the energy going all day. Here’s a look at what you can explore before JAFF comes to a close.

Interactive Booths & Hands-On Fun

Step outside and you’ll find the outdoor area dotted with booths that are not only Instagram-ready but also packed with things to do. One of the busiest is the PFN x EKRAF booth, hosting coaching clinics with Indonesian film professionals—directors, producers, screenwriters, and composers—sharing insights from inside the industry. There’s also a chance to score exclusive merchandise simply by following PFN x EKRAF on Instagram and posting a story.

Visitors can drop by Amar Bank’s free photo booth by filling out a short finance survey, while Hanomerch remains a must-visit stop for collectors. Alongside official JAFF merchandise, the booth also offers licensed merch from film IPs screening at JAFF20.

A Ping-Pong Tournament for Everyone

Beyond booths and music, JAFF brings back one of its most anticipated outdoor activities: the Ping-Pong Competition. Open to all visitors, the outdoor ping-pong table invites friendly matches and casual showdowns—with prizes up for grabs. Winners will be announced on the final day of the festival, alongside the Closing Ceremony.

Local Music Taking Over the Main Stage

JAFF20 also shines a spotlight on Yogyakarta’s local music scene. Danesa set the tone in the afternoon, filling the space with energetic rock arrangements—perfect for filling the gap between screenings. As night falls, Orkes Dansa La Mantrino takes over with infectious rhythms that turn the festival grounds into an impromptu dance floor. Their performance is a reminder that JAFF isn’t just a place to watch films, but a lively celebration of local creativity.

Exploring the Festival Through Food

After roaming the grounds, visitors can refuel at a wide range of food and drink tenants. From Sate Pak Dhe and Bebek Mas Paman to Akkar Juice Bar, Bons Fabriek, Toko Roema, Nyonya Pang, Oishi Takoyaki, Burger Bangor, Torte Coffee, Bakso Soleram, Teras-A Chicken, Nuna Ice Cream, and Kopi Jo, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

This year, JAFF also teamed up with iconic Yogyakarta treat Bakpia Juwara Satoe, launching a limited-edition salted caramel flavor made especially for JAFF’s 20th edition—a tasty way to introduce Jogja’s culinary scene to visitors from across cities and countries in Asia.

Wall of Memories: Leave Your Mark at JAFF20

Before heading home, festival-goers can stop by the Wall of Memories, an open space to jot down thoughts, stories, or hopes inspired by their time at JAFF. Over the days, it grows into an emotional archive shaped by audiences from all walks of life.

All in all, JAFF20 offers a full-bodied festival experience—on screen and beyond. See you at JAFF 2026!
