Synopsis

Sinopsis

Mrs. Ngo, 50, lives alone, devoted to her late husband’s family graves. Yet she secretly delights in vivid, shameful dreams stirred by the coarse flirtations of a rice vendor. When her son Hung, a snake farmer, suffers mysterious accidents, a fortune teller warns that his late father’s spirit is angry over her hidden unfaithfulness. As Hung’s life hangs in the balance, Mrs. Ngo frantically seeks cures for her troubling dreams, torn between guilt, superstition, and the fear that erasing them will leave her with unbearable loneliness.

Hồ Thanh Thảo

Hồ Thanh Thảo (aka Thảo Ho), born in 1995, is a Vietnamese filmmaker based in Ho Chi Minh City.
She has made films ranging from documentary to narrative, which explore the complexities of human life and existential issues in the context of Vietnam’s modern society. Omen is her third narrative short, after 'Ephemera' and 'Happy Money'.
