Synopsis
Sinopsis
In the upheaval that followed the collapse of the dictatorship, when hysteria over the killings of alleged sorcerers swept the country, a group of researchers uncovered a sack of unsettling remnants: fractured reports and spectral recordings. From these fragments, a hidden story gradually surfaces, evoking secret programs of experiment and indoctrination. Steeped in mysticism and magical realism, this fictional film interlaces Super 8, Hi8, Video8, digital 35mm, and synthetic imagery into a haunting meditation on memory, violence, and the turbulent legacies of Indonesia’s past.

Timoteus Anggawan Kusno
TA Kusno is an Indonesian artist and filmmaker whose work traces memory and the spectral legacies of Southeast Asia’s past. Moving between film, installation, and archival interventions, he combines magical realism with experimental image formats to explore the tension between history and fantasy. His works have been presented at the Berlinale, CPH:DOX, Tate Modern, and the IFFR Focus Program 2025. He received the Grand Prix of the Locarno Residency and the Hubert Bals Fund. Based between Amsterdam and Yogyakarta, Kusno continues to shape a distinctive voice at the intersection of cinema and contemporary art.
