Tribute to Aruna Vasudev

Aruna Vasudev has been recognized as a pioneer of Asian cinema, for her substantial contributions to introducing and expanding Asian cinema on a global level. Aruna Vasudev, known as the “Mother of Asian Cinema,” founded Cinemaya, a journal that provides in-depth critiques and documentation of Asian films. She also established NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema), an organization dedicated to promoting Asian cinema through film festivals and awards. To honor her passion, vision, and influence in the field of Asian cinema, the JAFF 2024 will include a memorial discussion titled “Tribute to Aruna Vasudev.”
