Ask for A Shower

This story revolves around Ijai (35), who asks his mother, Inar (56), to perform the “mandi taguh” ritual. Ijai, Inar’s only child, faces a life-threatening issue due to his dark past. Inar reluctantly agrees to his request despite her hesitation. The ritual symbolizes protection for Ijai as he prepares to leave their village. After the ritual, Ijai is attacked by the “Keluarga Pembunuh” (the Murderer’s Family), seeking revenge. He is brutally assaulted and taken to a dark place where he is tortured further. Despite his injuries, Ijai fights for survival. Inar, deeply saddened, recounts the events to her neighbor, Mba Anis. The story takes a chilling turn when Inar later finds Ijai in a devastated state, barely alive, slumped in Rina’s house.
