Animation Club is a vibrant exhibition and learning hub for animation enthusiasts in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It offers a platform for appreciation, discussion, and collaboration around animation, embracing various themes and techniques. Our events showcase both local and international films, covering all genres and innovative approaches without a focus on commercial success.

The club’s mission is to foster community by celebrating differences and bringing people together to share their passion for animation. Notably, since January 2017, we have hosted the CRAFT International Animation Festival, the only event in Asia that emphasizes craft-based animation. Through our regular and special events, we create an inclusive space for all who love animation, inviting participants to explore and enjoy this art form.

AVISTUDIO

Founded on August 6, 2022, in Surakarta, Central Java, AVISTUDIO began as a passionate group of students eager to explore the world of short film production. Today, we proudly have 13 active members committed to our vision of nurturing talent and creativity through professional audio-visual works.

Our journey has led us to produce six independent short films, two collaborative projects, and two commercials, with several of our works featured in national and international festivals. Beyond production, we are dedicated to talent development in film and cinematography, offering workshops and lectures over the past two years.

One of our hallmark events, the annual CINEVERSE program, showcases independent films and will return in late 2024.

Bangka Cinema was founded in 2021 by a young director, Alwan Nabil Ramadhan. He invited children from our village to engage in the film industry, specifically focusing on short films. To this day, the Bangka Cinema community remains active, continuously producing captivating short films that showcase our creativity and stories.

The word “Berejo” originates from the Palembang language which means “to make an effort”. Berejo Film is a production house dedicated to offering a wide range of video production solutions, from development, scriptwriting to filming and editing.

Pangandaran

Byfilms Production is a dynamic production collective founded in January 2020, with bases in Pangandaran and Surakarta. The initiative to create this production house emerged from a group of passionate young filmmakers dedicated to advancing the film industry. Alongside film production, Byfilms has successfully launched a popular annual screening event in Pangandaran, further contributing to the local film community

Cine Club Kulon Progo

Cine Club Kulon Progo is a community forum for cinematography and film established in Kulon Progo in 2020. The formation of this small community was inspired by a training program titled Film School, organized by the Cultural Office of Kulon Progo Regency in collaboration with a production house in Yogyakarta in early 2019. Since then, Cine Club has been actively creating various works, continuing to thrive to this day.

Eagle Institute Indonesia

Eagle Institute Indonesia is a foundation dedicated to fostering a strong, insightful, and dynamic documentary film industry in Indonesia. It serves as a hub for educational institutions, providing resources for the development of high-quality documentary films while supporting the growth of the national industry and actively participating in international documentary forums. Eagle Institute aims to nurture a documentary film culture that produces impactful, well-crafted films.

The institute offers a platform for training and developing community groups, including campuses, film communities, young intellectuals, and those interested in documentary filmmaking. Its programs cover the full scope of documentary production, from planning and creation to sharing works with broader audiences. Through its network of Eagle Awards Documentary Competition (EADC) alumni, Eagle Institute also promotes professional documentary projects that serve as a public platform for civil society, highlighting social issues and contributing to national discourse.

Eagle’s key programs include the nearly 20-year-old Eagle Awards Documentary Competition and comprehensive training workshops. Additionally, the institute runs *Seeing Indonesia*, a regular documentary series aired on Metro TV, and *Eagle Cinematalk*, a live-streamed talk show that discusses the latest developments in Indonesian cinema on social media platforms.

Elvina Pictures is a production company based in Pontianak. Elvina Pictures was founded by a group of young people who share the same vision. Elvina Pictures produces documentary and feature films. We believe that film is a good medium for communication. We believe that film can open up spaces for discussion that may not have existed before. From our concerns on environmental, socio-cultural and political issues, we package them into a work. Through the works we make, we want to have a direct and indirect impact on society.

Forum Film MMTC, or UKM FFM, was founded in 2007 as a platform for students at STMM MMTC Yogyakarta who share a passion for film. This forum was not created by chance; it arose from a strong interest among students in film production and discussion. Its purpose is to facilitate the organized and high-quality development of their passion, serving as the foundation for the first student organization at STMM MMTC Yogyakarta dedicated to advancing film among students. FFM is more than just a student activity unit; it has also become the cornerstone of various film communities throughout Yogyakarta. The presence of FFM within the local film community aims to embrace and support independent cinematic movements, broadening their reach and fostering a more collaborative film environment.

Forum Sineas Banua

Forum Sineas Banua is a film community established on July 24, 2016, in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The forum plays a multifaceted role as an exhibitor, educator, facilitator, and archive for the film industry in South Kalimantan. Officially registered as a nonprofit organization in 2018, FSB serves as a vital platform for networking among filmmakers and film communities in the region. In addition to fostering connections, FSB is dedicated to enhancing its members’ competencies, professionalism, and legal awareness within the film industry.

GLANGGANG MOVIE EDUCATION CENTER

An educational tourism program focused on providing immersive learning experiences in the filmmaking process and insights into the film industry. The primary goal is to elevate the quality of “film villages” as iconic tourist destinations and to empower local talent through creative, education-based initiatives.

 

Himpunan Mahasiswa Film dan Televisi UPI (HMFT UPI)

HMFT is a creative hub for Film and Television students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, focusing on fostering professional relationships among students, alumni, and industry practitioners, as well as connecting with other student associations and external communities. We also enhance skills in key aspects of filmmaking, such as scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, and editing. Additionally, we promote appreciation of film as an art form and a medium of communication. Our activities include workshops, screenings, inter-artist collaborations, and exhibitions in galleries or special festivals. Some of our projects include the Bandung International Student Film Festival (BISFF), Cinefuture, Kokaki, Exdiff, Bis Kota, and Open Studio.

INSOMNIA PRODUCTION STUDIO

Insomnia Production was founded in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, which ultimately provided creative space for friends in the post-PPKM era. Insomnia is engaged in the world of local cinema with the theme of North Kalimantan regional culture and also the social intrigue of border communities, hoping of course to develop better and be accepted by the Indonesian people.

Jagat Raya Films is a film production company founded in Samarinda in 2015 by young people from Samarinda who are interested in film art. We produce a film every year based on our activities. In our work, we collaborate with friends from the Samarinda film community who are involved in the filmmaking process to add experience in the world of film production.

Kali Brantas Sinema – KALIBRASI

Kali Brantas Sinema is a platform for the expression and identity of filmmakers along the Brantas River in the cities and regencies it traverses. This community continuously promotes self-expression and connects local filmmakers with national and international film communities through cinematography and mobile film screenings, or layar tancep (open air cinema), an Indonesian cultural tradition we aim to preserve. It embodies a strong drive for creative production and collaboration.

KiliKulu Films

Kilikulu Films is a production house and film community based in Sanggau Kapuas, West Kalimantan. Established in 2020, Kilikulu Films debuted with its first film, Jaraknya, which won a bronze award at the 2021 Budara Film Festival. Since then, they have produced only two films, including Becokank. Kilikulu Films is dedicated to building a film community in the region to showcase the unique culture and stories of West Kalimantan, especially from Sanggau Kapuas, to a broader audience. They also aim to give a voice to topics often seen as trivial by some, inviting meaningful discussion to deepen understanding and promote thoughtful perspectives on various issues.

Kremov Pictures is a film community and production house based in Banten, Indonesia. Founded on June 15, 2007, by Darwin Mahesa, Meli Amelia, and a group of young creatives, Kremov Pictures was later formalized as a legal entity. Beyond film production, the organization engages in film development activities supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, including film production, screenings, workshops, and the Banten Film Festival. Known for films that highlight local wisdom and culture, Kremov Pictures received a Cultural Stakeholder Award from the Governor of Banten in 2015.

Founded in 2016 by M. Azmi Arif, Afwan Sila, and Liko Anshori, Miniatur Production is a creative collective producing audiovisual and performing arts, including theater, dance, music, and film. Several of their works have been showcased at various film screenings across Indonesia and have received numerous awards. They have established a solid managerial system in the performing arts, successfully organizing various performances and building an effective collaboration framework to deliver top-quality results across diverse projects and needs. Miniatur Production has partnered with prominent brands to create audiovisual content for product promotions and has collaborated with government agencies and ministries on multiple occasions.

Multimedia SKANESA is a program at SMKN 1 Kota Mojokerto, now transformed into the Visual Communication Design department, which actively produces short films and regularly participates in screenings at various events across East Java. Each year, the department hosts an internal festival called GALASINEMA, an event to showcase and celebrate students’ final projects. Beyond the internal festival, students’ works are submitted to competitions and film festivals throughout Indonesia, earning several nominations. Multimedia SKANESA also collaborates with Studio Cerita to organize short film screenings in the Mojokerto Raya area.

NKRB (Native, Contextual, Relevant, Believe) House is a filmmaking collective that offers an alternative space for production, distribution, and exhibition in Banjarmasin. It was founded in response to the founders’ concerns about the weaknesses in the film distribution system and the insufficient support for local filmmakers from both institutions and the community. NKRB House has produced several works and successfully distributed them, with some films earning awards for their quality and impact.

Project Senang Dulu

This community was established based on the concerns of several Communication and Islamic Broadcasting students from UIN Sayid Ali Rahmatullah. From these concerns, the initiative arose to create a space for expression and collaborative learning outside the campus. This movement began in mid-May 2024. The initial name of the community, which has remained in use to this day, is “Project Senang Dulu.”

Team Creative Multimedia is a small community in Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan. It was established on 20 June 2015 and is involved in film and broadcasting. To date, it remains active in the film industry by consistently providing training and producing films. Team Creative Multimedia is expanding its network in the Special Region of Yogyakarta as some of its members are studying there.

Teropong Community is an indie film collective and a student organization within the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. It serves as a platform for young filmmakers at UIN Antasari to learn about the film industry, develop their skills, convey Islamic messages, and expand their networks with other filmmakers in South Kalimantan. Founded in early 2010, the community emerged from the concern of one of its founders, Bang Husnan Budiman, who recognized the lack of opportunities for students in the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences at UIN Antasari (then IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin) to engage in broadcasting and film.

UKM-F Rumah Film KPI

Rumah Film KPI is a student activity unit that began as a community on September 26, 2013, and was officially recognized as a faculty organization on October 18, 2014. It was established to address the concerns of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (KPI) students who wanted hands-on broadcasting experience beyond what was offered in their academic curriculum. Since its inception, Rumah Film KPI has produced over 20 short films and achieved numerous accolades.
