Synopsis
Sinopsis
Yukiko, a 29-year-old elementary school teacher in Tokyo, struggles with student communication and personal insecurities. Overlooked in the “Favorite Teacher Ranking” and uneasy about her boyfriend’s marriage hints, she finds solace in hip-hop. Yet, in her first rap battle, she is completely overwhelmed by her opponent. This story follows Yukiko’s journey to discover the meaning of living authentically.

Director's Biography
Biografi Sutradara
Naoya Kusaba
Born in August 1991 in Nagasaki, Japan. After graduating from Oita University, Kusaba studied scriptwriting under Izumi Takahashi at the Film School of Tokyo. He joined a video production company and began his career as an assistant director (AD) for variety shows, eventually working his way up to assistant director for TV dramas and films. Taking a leave of absence from the company, he directed an independent film, "Super Mikin Corinista," which won both the Nikkatsu and the Horipro awards at the PFF Award 2019, a festival celebrating independent films. “Yukiko a.k.a.” marks his first professional feature-length work.
