The Art of Storytelling: Linking Film and Literature

This lecture focuses on the link between cinematic and literary techniques, exploring how we can enhance the art of storytelling by delving into the medium specificity in both film and literature. How can filmmakers refine their craft by incorporating literary features such as narrative structure, characterization, literary device, intertextuality, and analytical skills? How can writers tell more compelling stories through sound, images, and bodies, and how to structure their writing more effectively by drawing lessons from film editing? The talk draws on my personal reflection as a fiction author and an academic trained in both literature and film studies.
