Semmalar Annam is a filmmaker and performer with a background in Visual Communication and Journalism. Trained in Theatre and Direction under Arunmozhi Sivaprakasam, she began with street theatre and Tamil cinema. Her acclaimed short film Mudhal Mazhai (First Rain) explored bodily autonomy and feminine identity and gained over a million YouTube views. Mayilaa marks her feature-film debut and reflects women’s nuanced inner lives.
