Synopsis
Sinopsis
With society in collapse, the government launches the brutal “Battle Royale” program against youth.
A class of unsuspecting 9th graders is hijacked and isolated on an abandoned island. Their former teacher, Kitano, enforces the game’s horrifying rule: only one student can survive in three days—or everyone dies by explosive collar.
Students like Shuya and Noriko are thrust into a frantic fight for life. Shuya accidentally kills a classmate but vows to outwit the sick experiment. As alliances crumble and terror rises, the teens struggle with hope, young love and petty grudges against a backdrop of shocking violence.

Kinji Fukasaku
Kinji Fukasaku is the director of Toei's legendary yakuza series, BATTLES WITHOUT HONOR AND HUMANITY. Fukasaku worked tirelessly thereafter, often making 3 films in a year. Shot hand-held in cinemascope, BATTLES WITHOUT HONOR AND HUMANITY (1973), broke box office records, turned the yakuza genre upside down and placed the director in the pantheon of Japanese masters.
