Sinopsis
Tells the story of a middle-aged man who lives in a pristine village. One peaceful afternoon, Grandpa sits in his living room, enjoying a cup of milk and a cigarette while listening to his beloved old radio. However, his tranquility is disturbed by a news report on the radio: a major development project is coming to his village, rumored to bring progress, but also potentially threaten the beauty and sustainability of the environment. This news immediately triggered a deep desire in Grandpa, As he escaped his imagination to the location of the hill behind his house which was still very beautiful, filled with rice fields and green trees. In this daydream, he saw the hill in a condition filled with magnificent and luxurious buildings. However, the visual peace of his imagination slowly began to be disturbed. The scarecrow that usually stood stiff and still in the middle of the rice field, now began to move to scare Grandpa, the scarecrow no longer functioned as a plant guardian, but as a symbol of anger, for the people affected by the development. The scarecrow is a visualization of the collective anger of the village community over the potential environmental damage that will befall their area if the development plan really happens. The rice field people show a warning with the sound of nature that is gripping. marking the representation of the voices that are afraid, angry, and want to fight against the destruction of the nature they love.Grandpa wakes up from his daydream feeling depressed and scared. He realizes that the “tau-tau” (rice field people) are the guardians who have been guarding the hill to this day. This film is a reflection on the vulnerability of nature in the face of modernization and one person’s struggle to preserve environmental heritage.
