The Opening Ceremony
On November 25, 2023, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) officially started. The opening ceremony began with a speech from Budi Irawanto (Festival President) and was symbolically opened by playing a keyboard with Garin Nugroho (Festival Founder), Ifa Isfansyah (Festival Director), Ajish Dibyo (Executive Director), Alexander Matius (Program Director) and Intan Nadya (Festival Manager). At the opening yesterday, JAFF also gave an Honorary Award to Christine Hakim (veteran Indonesian actress) for her contribution to Asian Cinema.
INTERSECTION EXHIBITION
Art and Film Installation

In June 2022, Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul led a group of 7 international artists in an intensive workshop in the Amazon jungle as part of the PlayLab Films project and multimedia art installation that intersects with the history of cinema.
Seven short films resulted from the workshop that offer a unique view of the Amazon jungle through the eyes of the artists. It’s a journey through different perspectives and personal spaces, a vibrant portrayal that reveals diverse intentions and experiences.
The 7 shorts can be viewed in the art installation at former Serae Coffee and Kitchen curated by Dani Huda.
