Bioskop Online Talks: Jelajah Sinema Indonesia

It is common knowledge that today anyone can make films. The digital technology development allows filmmakers not only to emerge from the scope of educational institutions or film schools and the film industry. 

It is also not surprising that today, filmmaking is no longer centered in big cities or metropolitan areas. There are many filmmakers based and working in various parts of the country, including outside Java. The spread of filmmakers in many regions, assumptively, goes hand in hand with the diversity of film forms and stories produced. This development is certainly pleasant and healthy for the development of Indonesian cinema.

But at the grassroots level, in fact, there are still many situations that are not ideal or problems which must be dealt with by filmmakers today. Starting from the production, distribution, and exhibition sectors-disclaimer: the education, archiving, and appreciation sectors are deliberately not included in this portion of the discussion.

This talk show is intended to re-map the patterns and problems that many filmmakers who we may call independent, are still experiencing in Indonesia today. The keynote speaker will deliver his readings and views on the topic, and the participants or audience will also be welcomed to raise questions and opinions in order to get a comprehensive perspective and overview of the issues explored.
