SYNOPSIS


A mysterious man (Dean Fujioka) is found on a beach in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Takako (Mayu Tsuruta) is a Japanese national working in Indonesia on a disaster recovery mission, and together with her son Takashi (Taiga) and his cousin Sachiko (Junko Abe) from Tokyo, take in this man who seems to understand some Japanese. They name him Laut, the Indonesian word for ocean.

Takashi’s classmate Kris (Adipati Dolken) and his friend Ilma (Sekar Sari), an aspiring journalist, join Takashi and Sachiko, and the four form a friendship. Meanwhile, Laut begins to perform miracles which result in some incidents and rouse suspicion, causing people to wonder who this mysterious man really is.

Seorang lelaki misterius (Dean Fujioka) ditemukan si sebuah pantai di Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Takako (Mayu Tsuruta) adalah seorang warga negara Jepang yang tinggal di Indonesia dalam misi penanggulangan bencana. Bersama dengan anaknya Takashi (Taiga), dan keponakannya Sachiko (Junko Abe) yang baru datang dari Tokyo, mereka merawat lelaki tersebut yang ternyata mengerti sedikit Bahasa Jepang. Lelaki tersebut mereka namakan Laut. 

Teman Takashi, Kris (Adipati Dolken) dan temannya Ilma (Sekar Sari), seorang jurnalis muda, mulai menjalin sebuah hubungan persahabatan dengan Takashi dan Sachiko. Sementara itu, Laut mulai melakukan keajaiban demi keajaiban yang mencelakakan dan menimbulkan kecurigaan, sehingga orang mulai bertanya-tanya siapa dirinya sebenarnya.

Koji Fukada

Koji Fukada was born in Tokyo in 1980. After completing the director’s program at the Film School of Tokyo, Fukada joined the directing team of the theater company Seinendan formed by Oriza Hirata in 2005. His award-winning feature films include “Human Comedy in Tokyo” (2008), “Hospitalité” (2010), “Au revoir l’été” (2013), and “Sayonara” (2015). His 2016 film “Harmonium” won the Jury Prize in the “Un Certain Regard” section of the 69th Cannes Film Festival. He has been active in the NPO Dokuritsu Eiga Nabe since 2012.

Koji Fukada lahir di Tokyo pada tahun 1980. Setelah menyelesaikan program penyutradaraan di Film School of Tokyo, Fukada bergabung ke tim sutradara dari grup teater Seinendan ciptaan Oriza Hirata di tahun 2005. Film-film Fukada antara lain mencakupi “Human Comedy in Tokyo” (2008), “Hospitalité” (2010), “Au revoir l’été” (2013), dan “Sayonara” (2015). Filmnya di tahun 2016 “Harmonium”, memenangkan penghargaan Jury Prize di seksi “Un Certain Regard” pada The 69th Cannes Film Festival. Ia aktif di NPO Dokuritsu Eiga Nabe sejak tahun 2012.
