PAUL AGUSTA

Indonesia

He was born in Jakarta but received his formal film education in America.  He has written and directed over 50 short films and 5 feature films Including “Parts of the Heart” (2012) and “Daysleepers” (2018). His films have been shown in various international festivals such as International Film Festival Rotterdam, Vancouver International Film Festival, BiFan, and Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival. He is currently developing his 6th feature film as well as coaching new actors in his Bengkel Acting Kuma acting workshop which he founded with Khiva Iskak.


Paul Agusta adalah seorang pembuat film, aktor, dan pengajar seni yang berdomisili di Jakarta, Indonesia. Ia lahir di Jakarta namun mengemban pendidikan formalnya di Amerika. Paul Agusta telah menulis dan menyutradarai lebih dari 50 film pendek dan 5 film, termasuk “Parts of the Heart” (2012) dan “Daysleepers” (2018). Filmnya telah diputar di berbagai festival film internasional termasuk International Film Festival Rotterdam, Vancouver International Film Festival, BiFan, dan  Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival. Sekarang ia sedang mengembangkan film ke-6 nya sekaligus menjadi mentor aktor-aktor baru di Bengkel Acting Kuma, sebuah loka karya akting yang ia dirikan bersama Khiva Iskak.

JOHN TORRES

Phillippines 

John Torres (b. 1975) is an independent filmmaker, musician and writer.  He co-runs Los Otros, a Manila-based space, film lab, and platform committed to the intersections of film and art, with a focus on process over product. He directed and produced five feature films, including Todo Todo Teros (Dragons & Tigers Award, Vancouver IFF 2006; NETPAC/FICRESCI awards, Singapore IFF 2006), Years When I was a Child Outside (Berlinale Forum Expanded 2008), and Lukas The Strange (Art of the Real,Film at Lincoln Center, 2013). He has made more than a dozen short films, including, We Still Have to Close Our Eyes (Wavelengths, Toronto IFF 2019). His work fictionalizes and reworks personal and found documentations of love, family relations, and memory in relation to current events, hearsays, myth, and folklore. He produced Shireen Seno’s Nervous Translation (NETPAC award, Tiger Competition, Rotterdam 2018), a project that was developed through Venice’s Biennale College Cinema, Bangkok Produire au Sud, IFP, and Cinemart. A special focus of his works was shown at the Viennale in 2013.


John Torres (lahir pada tahun 1975) adalah seorang pembuat film independen, musisi, dan penulis. Ia ikut mengelola Los Otros, sebuah ruang, lab film, dan platform berbasis di Manila yang berkomitmen untuk mengkaji titik tengah antara film dan seni, dengan fokus terhadap proses daripada produk. Karyanya menyadur dan mengulang kembali dokumentasi seputar cinta, hubungan keluarga, dan memori yang dalam kaitannya dengan peristiwa, kabar angin, mitos, dan cerita rakyat masa kini, baik itu personal maupun yang didengar dari luar. Ia memproduksi Nervous Translation karya Shireen Seno (NETPAC award, Tiger Competition, Rotterdam 2018), sebuah proyek yang dikembangkan melalui Venice’s Biennale College Cinema, Bangkok Produire au Sud, IFP, dan Cinemart. Gulbara Tolomushova

Kyrgyzstan

Gulbara Tolomushova was born in Kyrgyzstan, graduated from the film studies and screenwriting department of The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Kyrgyz Filmmakers Union, FIPRESCI and NETPAC member. Works for the Bishkek Cinema House at the Kyrgyz Ministry for Culture, Information and Tourism’s Cinema department. Program director of the CIS countries’ Young Cinema Forum “Umut”. Columnist at the “Vecherny Bishkek” newspaper, Gulbara also writes for the “Forum” magazine (published by the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation, Moscow), and online movie magazine Kinokultura.com. Author of the study “Kinostan Territory. Faces of Kyrgyz Cinema” (1999) and the book “Powerful Fragility and Cruel Art. Women in Kyrgyz Cinema” (2017).

 


Gulbara Tolomushova, lahir di Kirgistan, adalah seorang lulusan dari departemen studi film dan penulisan naskah di The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Ia merupakan anggota dari Kyrgyz Filmmakers Union, FIPRESCI, dan NETPAC. Gulbara bekerja di Bishkek Cinema House di Kementrian Budaya, Informasi, dan Parisiwata Kirgistan, tepatnya di departemen perfilman. Seorang direktur program untuk negara CIS di Young Cinema Forum “Umut” dan kolumnis di koran “Vecherny Bishkek”, Gulbara menulis untuk majalah “Forum” (diterbitkan oleh Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation, Moscow), dan majalah film online yaitu Kinokultura.com. Gulbara Tolomushova juga merupakan penulis dari “Kinostan Territory. Faces of Kyrgyz Cinema” (1999) dan buku “Powerful Fragility and Cruel Art. Women in Kyrgyz Cinema” (2017).
