Messages From Dirjen Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia
Direktur Jenderal Kebudayaan
With the grace of Allah SWT, the 18th Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) has been successfully held. This consistent achievement has garnered full support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the Cultural Endowment Fund in the Strategic Activities category. This funding support aims to facilitate JAFF’s growth and transformation into an independent and sustainable cultural institution. JAFF is expected to play a significant role in realizing the vision of Indonesia cultural advancement: Indonesia wellbeing based on cultural diversity for education, reconciliation and prosperity.
This year, JAFF has chosen “Luminescence” as its festival theme, emphasizing inclusivity in cinema. Over the span of 18 years, JAFF has evolved into an inclusive film festival which engages various stakeholders: government, private institutions, and communities contributing to the development of Yogyakarta, Indonesian, and Asian cinema. Through this collaborative effort, JAFF has proudly become the largest film festival in Southeast Asia. This is a remarkable achievement!
We firmly believe that JAFF will continue to expand and evolve into an inclusive platform supporting government initiatives in the advancement of culture and human resource development for a Golden Indonesia in 2045. In the context of advancing the film industry, JAFF provides alternative film spaces, granting access equity to youth from different regions, thereby reducing disparities. The festival’s diverse educational programs (workshops, seminars, discussions, and presentations) assist the development of film practitioners’ knowledge, skill and network. We hope JAFF will be able to refine and expand this strategy in the future.
To all the organizers, esteemed guests, partners, and supporters of the 18th JAFF,
“Congratulations on Illuminating Inclusivity through Cinema!”
Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
