Lumination as the theme of JAFF in 2023 is interpreted as the source of JAFF as a festival which has been running for 18 years, has transformed into a festival that can be a source of light not only for the film ecosystem, but also for communities outside the film industry. Today, there are many self-sufficient communities and community organizations which don’t rely on support from other parties. They can live with their own lighting, not only support its community members but also become a source for the surrounding entities. This inspiration is the background of JAFF’s Public Lecture Program: Luminesence. Hopefully, JAFF as a film festival can be a source of light for all entities around it, especially those across ASIA.
