Synopsis
Sinopsis
Garden Amidst the Flame is a captivating non-linear coming-of-age tale that immerses us in the world of young Minahasan girls. The story follows protagonist Virsay, who explores the hypermasculine aspects of her culture. Unbeknownst to her, her sister is part of a child gang practicing ancient knowledge, leading to surreal experiences such as encountering a Coelacanth monster and a dancing Rooster beast. Inspired by a Karai ritual, the narrative blends symbols, myths, and fiction, culminating in a fantasy film. The characters, including Virsay, her sister Mikha, Grandpa Yop, and the child gang led by Wulan Lengkoan, work together to challenge hypermasculine Minahasan rituals and daily life.
