Kim Dong Ho
Founder Busan International Film Festival / BIFF
KIM Dong-Ho, born in 1937, is the founder and former chairman of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). After holding various positions at the Ministry of Culture and Communication, he was named in 1988 president of the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Corporation (now Korean Film Council). During his tenure, he actively promoted Korean films internationally and co-founded NETPAC to promote Asian cinema. In 1996, he founded BIFF and developed it into the premier film event in Asia, serving as the president of the festival for 15 years followed by his position as Honorary Festival Director and Chairman until 2017. He made his directing debut with a short film titled “Jury” in 2012.
GARIN NUGROHO
Founder Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival / JAFF
Born in Yogyakarta in 1961, he completed his studies at the Jakarta Institute of Arts in 1985. His debut film, “Cinta dalam Sepotong Roti” (1991), received the Best Young Director award at the Asia Pacific International Film Festival. In 1994, his film titled “Surat untuk Bidadari” won Best Film at the Taormina Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. Meanwhile, in 1998, through his film “Daun di atas Bantal” which won the Special Jury Prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, his name
skyrocketed and he became widely known at various international film festival events. In celebration of Mozart’s 250th anniversary in 2006, Garin was selected as one of the 6 ‘Innovative Directors’ in the world.
Philip Cheah
Critic
Philip Cheah is a film critic and is the editor of BigO, Singapore’s only independent pop culture publication. He is Advisory Council member of Network for the Promotion of Asia-Pacific Cinema (NETPAC), and is currently program consultant for the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, the Eurasia International Film Festival, and Shanghai International Film Festival. He is Patron of the SEA (South-east Asia) Screen Academy in Makassar, Indonesia and is Co-Director of the Asia Pacific Screen Lab. He is co-editor of the books, Garin Nugroho: And the Moon Dances; Noel Vera: Critic After Dark and Ngo Phuong Lan: Modernity and Nationality in Vietnamese Cinema.

Zaki Habibi
Lecturer
Zaki Habibi is a researcher in media studies and visual culture, focusing on the relationship between everyday life and cultural practices in urban environments. He earned his PhD in Media and Communication Studies from Lund University, Sweden, and a Master's in Media and Cultural Studies from Edith Cowan University, Australia. Zaki has published three books: “Mediaholic” (2013), “Surrounded by Images and Meanings” (2016), and “Creative Voices of the City” (2020), which is based on his doctoral research. His work has appeared in academic journals and volumes, including “Re-imagining Creative Cities in Twenty-First Century Asia” (2020), as well as popular articles like “Festival Film dan Kota: Merawat Ingatan, Mengimajinasikan Harapan” (2022). He is a former Senior Lecturer and Research Affiliate at Lund University (2021-2024) and currently a Senior Lecturer at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) in Yogyakarta since 2006. In addition to his academic work, Zaki has been involved in the arts as a staff member at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (2006-2013), a documentary photographer, and a workshop trainer on creativity and urban exploration.
