Synopsis
Sinopsis
Set in a distant barrio, a strange skin disease throws a tight-knit village into turmoil. At the heart of their struggle stands an ancient tree believed to be miraculous. Locals flock to it, leaving clothes as tokens of faith and exchanging names with it in hopes of healing. As her mother battles the skin disease, little girl Sabel begins to realize the tree’s importance amidst the looming danger of its disappearance in a community that is desperate for healing.

Kyd Torato
In 2022, Capizeña filmmaker KYD TORATO graduated from the University of the Philippines Visayas with a degree in Communication and Media Studies. She later apprenticed at Southern Lantern Studios and was mentored by award-winning filmmakers Arden Rod Condez, Sonny Calvento, and Sheron Dayoc. Her first short film, Si Oddie, premiered at the 18th Cinemalaya and won Best Director and the Cardinal Bronze Award at CineMapúa. Her latest work “Even Ashes, Nothing Remains” received a grant from Netflix, won 2nd Best Short Film at the 2024 Sinag Maynila Film Festival, and qualified at the Ngilnig Asian Fantastic Film Festival.
