Visible Traces is an animated documentary short concerning the Montara oil spillage that occurred back in 2009 and the tragedy it caused in West Timor (Indonesia) as it was forgotten as years went by. This story portrays the life of a victim, a local fisherman of Tablolong village, representing the more than eleven thousand fishermen affected in West Timor. The story of this documentary film is inspired by the results of in-depth research, interviews done with local fishermen, and including an official report from the Australian Lawyers Alliance.
Kasat mata adalah animasi dokumenter pendek dari tragedi tumpahan Kilang Minyak Montara yang terjadi di Laut Timor, Nusa Tenggara Timur pada tahun 2009 yang dampaknya dirasakan oleh para nelayan dan petani rumput laut seiring berjalannya waktu. Cerita film ini terinspirasi dari hasil wawancara dengan para nelayan dan petani rumput laut, dan laporan resmi dari Australian lawyers Alliance.

Tirta (27) works as a boat crew on a domestic ferry crossing, experiencing financial problems, he also has to face the reality that his work’s contract will come to an end. His efforts in extending the contract at the transportation company were hindered by the presence of a government system. This situation made him question the future of his seamen’s career.

Sadi is a new maid in the village office. one time Sadi was busy preparing for the needs of the village event some residents came to the village office to resolve their administrative problems. the state of the village office was very quiet, there was only one person and there was not one village official who had the authority to deal with the administration of its citizens. because of pressure from several residents to resolve the administrative problem, Sadi felt cornered.
