TIGER STRIPES
November 27, 2023 | JAFF18 | Q&A Session
Director Amanda Nell Eu on the Challenges of Casting
We had a professional acting coach to conduct the workshops and we also hired a professional sex educator to create a safe space so that during rehearsals the girls felt at ease and free to really express themselves.
Through the workshops I really saw the girls come alive and open up, and this enabled me to do the final casting.
That was how we got these 3 brilliant girls on screen.
Zafreen Zairizal: a particular talent
The first time we met Zafreen, she was always bouncing around, cheerful and full of energy. But we wondered if she had the fire to be a tiger. Then when we resumed shooting after a two-year break caused by the pandemic, she was 15 and had experienced puberty and we saw the rage.
