Synopsis
Two interweaving stories take place around Chungking Mansions, a mazelike commercial complex in Hong Kong. One cop, lovesick after being dumped by his girlfriend, falls for a mysterious, blond-wigged, gun-toting femme fatale, while a second cop remains oblivious to the attentions of a California-dreamy waitress at a fast food counter who resorts to re-arranging his apartment behind his back.

Wong Kar Wai
Wong Kar Wai was born in Shanghai and moved with his parents to Hong Kong when he was five. In 1988, Wong Kar Wai directed his first feature film, “As Tears Go By”. It was invited to the Critics’ Week at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival.
He achieved further international recognition in 1997 with "Happy Together", winning Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2000, "In The Mood For Love" also competed at the Cannes Film Festival, achieving great success worldwide and being voted one of the 25 greatest films of all time by Sight & Sound’s international poll of critics, programmers and filmmakers.
His body of work has been recognized by numerous international awards, making his name synonymous with iconic auteur cinema. With his impeccable taste for visual and musical esthetics, his films have inspired filmmakers and artists far beyond the cinematic world.
