SYNOPSIS


A rousing dog and man comedy composed of just 61 shots, and set in Shenyang in northeastern China, where people argue continuously. The film takes off from the premises of an MA student losing his professor’s dog and must enlist his father’s help to retrieve it, lest his prospects of a tutorship vanishes. A biting satire on every conceivable ill in modern society, and an endearing portrait of a father-and-son relationship.

Komedi yang berisi 61 shot tentang anjing yang riang gembira dan seorang lelaki, berlatar di Shenyang, timur laut Cina, di mana manusia terus beradu mulut. Film ini bermula ketika seorang pelajar jurusan seni kehilangan anjing dosennya dan harus menemukannya dengan bantuan sang ayah, agar ia tidak kehilangan prospek bimbingan dari dosen tersebut. Film ini merupakan satir yang tajam tentang setiap penyakit yang dapat dipahami dalam kehidupan masyarakat modern, dan sebuah potret hubungan ayah dan anak yang menggetarkan hati.

Jiang Jiachen

Jiang Jiachen was born in 1984 in Shenyang, Liaoning province. After his graduation from LunXun Academy of Fine Arts, he becomes a teacher of the academy. He directed two short films including The Dog Days (2004) and The Thieves (2005), and was the screenwriter for short films including The Imprisoned Man (2012), Lost (2013), Professor Niu’s Secret (2014) and Dormitory No.32 (2015). In 2016, he was selected as one of the top 15 candidates of the first CFDG young director support programme. His debut feature Looking for Lucky was the winner of the inaugural Early Bird New Directors Film Fund of the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

Jiang Jiachen lahir pada tahun 1984 di Shenyang, provinsi Liaoning. Ia menjadi guru di  LunXun Academy of Fine Arts setelah lulus dari akademi yang sama. Ia telah menyutradarai dua film pendek, yaitu The Dog Days (2004) dan The Thieves (2005), serta  menulis naskah beberapa film pendek diantaranya, The Imprisoned Man (2012), Lost (2013), Professor Niu’s Secret (2014) dan Dormitory No. 32 (2015). Pada tahun 2016, ia terpilih menjadi salah satu dari 15 besar kandidat untuk Young Director Support Programme (Program Pendukung Sutradara Muda) CFDG yang pertama. Debut filmnya, Looking for Lucky, menjadi pemenang di the Inaugural Early Bird New Directors Film Fund of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (Inaugurasi Pendanaan Film Sutradara Muda Early Bird dalam Festival Film Internasional Hong Kong).
